PNA /INMO Boycott Graduate Placement ProgrammeColleagues you will be aware of the PNA/INMO campaign to boycott the above process and indeed last Saturday's rally in Croke Park as part of a consciousness raising exercise.

The focus of the campaign now moves to a concentrated and targeted approach in lobbing TD's    around the country outlining the nursing profession's abhorrence and outright opposition to the HSE graduate programme.

It is the shared view of the PNA/INMO that recruiting graduates @ 80% of the agreed pay rate i.e. € 22,000 is nothing other than an attempt to introduce cheap labour in breach of agreed salaries.

Dear Colleagues,

The boycott on applying for nursing posts @ 80% salary or €22,000 has been hugely successful. Only a handful have applied for the 1000 posts. Now the HSE has taken the unprecedented step of removing the deadline for applications and now have a "rolling deadline". This is a clear indication that the boycott is working.

This "initiative" was extended to Mental Health and ID Graduates of 2010,2011 and 2012 last Friday 22 02 2013. It is imperative that the boycott is maintained at this stage. Please  continue to support the boycott and force the Minister and HSE to employ the 1000 nurses who are badly needed in our services but at the proper rate of starting pay @ €27843

Our colleagues in general nursing have maintained an almost clean sheet in respect of not applying for those yellow pack posts, this campaign must continue. You are reminded of the critical importance of contacting your local TD’s and public representatives at their Clinics this weekend.

thank you

Circular for the attention of PNA members

Re: Offers of Promotion Subsequently Withdrawn

16/11/12

Dear Colleagues,

Over the last few years a number of members who were placed on local or national panels for promotion received offers of posts which were later withdrawn. There were some suggestions that the HSE would honour all such offers, however, the HSE has recently clarified their position as follows:

  1. The HSE does not accept that it has entered into a contract of employment with a candidate who has been offered and accepted a post and was in the clearing process when the offer was withdrawn.
  2. Candidates at the clearing stage are advised not to hand in their notice
  3. However the HSE accepts that any candidate who has a written contract of employment signed by both parties on or before 20th July 2012 will have their contracts honoured.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. Des Kavanagh

General Secretary
