Friday 11th September 2026 :  The Psychiatric Nurses Association (PNA) has formally notified the Heath Service Executive (HSE ) that its members will engage in industrial action commencing on Thursday October 1st 2026.

This follows a ballot in favour of industrial action up to and including a full withdrawal of labour with regards to the Public Service Agreement 2024-2026 and the lack of any agreed successor to that agreement, which ended on June 30th.

• Action set to commence on Tuesday, 29th September 2026 across West Galway, Ballinasloe, Roscommon, and CAMHS

• Formal statutory notice served on HSE Regional Director Tony Canavan following a 98.4% ballot mandate

• Action triggered by senior nursing and HR management's sustained refusal to address ongoing disputes

• PNA stresses readiness for timely intervention and meaningful talks to prevent service disruption

September 7th 2026 — The Psychiatric Nurses Association (PNA) has formally served notice of industrial action on HSE West Northwest management, confirming that action will begin across the region on Tuesday, 29th September 2026.

Thursday 16th April 2026 :  Delegates attending the Annual Delegate Conference of the Psychiatric Nurses Association (PNA) in Co. Cavan today (Thursday) have been told that despite a growing demand by young people and their families for CAMHS services the HSE is proposing to close a 10 bedded unit in St Vincent’s Hospital, Fairview, Dublin.
