This four year part time training leads to an MSc and professional qualification in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. Graduates are eligible to work with children in a variety of mental health settings.
Child and Adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapy is a clinical approach to therapeutic work with children, spanning the years from infancy through adolescence. It is rooted in psychoanalytic theory and emphasizes the significance of early childhood experiences and relationships and their impact on the internal world of the child. A wide range of emotional, mental health and relationship difficulties experienced in childhood and adolescence can benefit from this psychotherapy. The training places significant emphasis on experiential learning and the acquisition of specific skills for working with children and adolescents. Upon completion graduates are eligible for accreditation with appropriate professional bodies including Irish Council for Psychotherapy.
