Thursday 1st Oct. 2026 : The Psychiatric Nurses Association (PNA) has today commenced industrial action in response to the lack of progress on a new national public service agreement.
Commenting, PNA General Secretary, Peter Hughes said it is the consensus of the PNA Officer Board, and of the National Executive Committee of the PNA, that the current situation in regards to the lack of any agreed successor to the Public Service Agreement 2024-2026, which ended on June 30th. cannot be tolerated and steps must be taken to ensure that this situation does not persist.
Initially, the PNA industrial action commenced today will take the form of a work-to-rule. However, if no progress is made in resolving this dispute, the PNA will escalate the action up to and including strike action.
